As in all programming languages there are lots of certain rules of VHDL. These rules are necessery in order to avoid errrors when writing code. Coing rules apply more on the identifiers. The name of the objects like entiy, process, function, procedure are called identifiers. There are two kinds of identifiers: Basic and extended.

basic_identifier ::= {letter / digit / underscore}
extended_identifier ::= \graphical characters\

The identifiers below are accepted as correct in VHDL'93
